Apply for Certification

Interested in becoming a LODI RULES grower? Below you will find information for getting started down the certification road.

The steps outlined here are repeated for every certification year (see calendar HERE).

Step 1: Apply

First, contact Heather Putnam at Protected Harvest to request an application packet: (831) 477-7797. Applications and fees are due on February 15th, 2019.

2018 third edition LODI RULES binders are available by contacting Dr. Stephanie Bolton at the Lodi Winegrape Commission at or (209) 367-4727. The LODI RULES Standards, along with an introduction, are available to download as a PDF HERE.

Step 2: Self-assessment

Second, complete the online LODI RULES self-assessment. The on-line assessment system, in conjunction with the LODI RULES For Sustainable Winegrowing Certification Standards, Third Edition binder, is used to document your farming practices.

Step 3: Audit

Third, the auditor will contact you to schedule an audit. Audits take place between May and August.

Step 4: PEAS

The final step in the certification process is annual submission of PEAS impact units per vineyard to the auditor. PEAS calculations are due in September or when spraying is complete for the growing season.
