Description: The Lodi Winegrape Commission is thrilled to partner with the Xerces Society to encourage the use of native plants in the Lodi region. Hedgerows and cover crops deliver numerous benefits to the winegrape farmer. Besides enhancing the visual appeal of our region, hedgerows and cover crops increase agricultural biodiversity on the ranch, provide habitat for wildlife and beneficial insects, capture runoff, improve soil health, and increase water penetration. Join us for a hands-on, interactive workshop where you’ll be able to see how easy it is to plant and maintain a hedgerow – and discuss the benefits and costs of an established hedgerow with the farmer. We’ll provide information on which native species to plant, beneficial insects, and financial assistance opportunities for the farmer. Bring your camera and gloves!
RSVP: Contact the Lodi Winegrape Commission by phone 209.367.4727 or email lwwc@lodiwine.com.
