My wife and I are a small grower on the East Side of the valley on Kettleman Lane. Currently we have seven of our twenty acres planted in small blocks. The purpose of this was to grow small lots of premium grapes for small wineries.
Currently we have:
2 acres of Sauvignon Blanc in its eighth leaf, producing about 4-5 tons each of the Musque clone and clone 530. Wine made from these grapes, third leaf, was awarded one of two gold medals at the 2013 San Francisco International Wine Competition.
1 acre each of Cabernet Sauvignon, Barbera and Petite Sirah.
2 acres of Ribolla Gialla.
A beautiful 40 acre ranch located in the desirable Mokelumne River sub-AVA of Lodi California. Family farmed since 1973.
This Crete Zinfandel was grown in a historic vineyard and located on DeVries Rd just north of Turner Rd, on the west side of Lodi. The vineyard was planted in 1958. The vines are on St. George rootstock and are head-trained. This is a quintessential ‘West Side’ Lodi vineyard – fine, sandy soil with yields of about five ton per acre, producing unusually elongated and loose clusters of grapes. The St. George rootstock adds an underlying savage or wildness to counter-point the rich fruit. This character from the rootstock is most notable when comparing Zinfandel wines made from own-rooted vines.
