Apply for certification

photoInterested in becoming a Lodi Rules grower? Below you will find information for getting started down the certification road. The steps outlined here are repeated for every certification year (see calendar HERE). More comprehensive instructions and information about the certification process is available on the Lodi Rules Grower Resources page of this website. Have questions? Contact Dr. Stephanie Bolton at the Lodi Winegrape Commission: stephanie@lodiwine.com or (209) 367-4727.

Step 1: Apply

First, contact Jane Vandine at Protected Harvest to request an application packet: jvandine@protectedharvest.org or (831) 477-7797. Applications and fees are due on February 15th, 2017.

New 2017 third edition Lodi Rules binders are available at the 2016 Year-End Recap Event on February 9th (10:30am, Burgundy Hall, Grape Festival Grounds, Lodi) or by contacting Dr. Stephanie Bolton at the Lodi Winegrape Commission at stephanie@lodiwine.com or (209) 367-4727.  The 2017 third edition Standards, along with an introduction, are available to download as a PDF HERE.

Step 2: Self-assessment

Second, complete the online Lodi Rules self-assessment. The on-line assessment system, in conjunction with the Lodi Rules For Sustainable Winegrowing Certification Standards, Third Edition binder, is used to document your farming practices. The self-assessment system will open on March 1st, 2017 and will close on May 2nd, 2017.

Step 3: Audit

Third, the auditor will contact you to schedule an audit. Audits take place between May 15th and August 1st, 2017. Auditor visits entail friendly and low-pressure inspection of all documentation and vineyards.

Step 4: PEAS

The final step in the certification process is annual submission of PEAS impact units per vineyard to the auditor. PEAS calculations are due September 1st, 2017 for Crush District #11 growers and in September 15th, 2017 for growers in other regions with later harvest dates.
