photoInterested in becoming a Lodi Rules grower? Below you will find information for getting started down the certification road. The steps outlined here are repeated for every certification year. Step 1: Apply

First, contact Protected Harvest and request an application packet. Applications are due near the end of February for the following certification year, and can be requested from Jane Vandine at or (831) 477-7797. Step 2: Self-assessment

Second, complete the Lodi Rules self-assessment. The on-line assessment system, in conjunction with the Lodi Rules For Sustainable Winegrowing Certification Standards, Second Edition binder, is used to document your farming practices. The self-assessment system is open during March of each year.

Step 3: Audit

Third, schedule an audit. Audits are completed during June. Auditor visits entail friendly and low-pressure inspection of all documentation and vineyards.

Step 4: PEAS

The final step in the certification process is annual submission of PEAS impact units per vineyard to the auditor. PEAS calculations are due mid-August for Lodi growers and in early September for growers in other regions with later harvest dates.
