Apply for certification
Interested in becoming a Lodi Rules grower? Below you will find information for getting started down the certification road. The steps outlined here are repeated for every certification year. More comprehensive instructions and information about the certification process is available on the Grower Resources page of this website. Have questions? Contact Matthew Hoffman at the Lodi Winegrape Commission at firstname.lastname@example.org or (209) 367-4726.
Step 1: Apply
First, contact Protected Harvest and request an application packet. Applications are due near the end of February for the following certification year, and can be requested from Jane Vandine at email@example.com or (831) 477-7797. Also contact Matthew Hoffman at the Lodi Winegrape Commission at firstname.lastname@example.org or (209) 367-4726 to get connected with the Lodi Rules electronic newsletters and outreach events.
Step 2: Self-assessment
Second, complete the Lodi Rules self-assessment. The on-line assessment system, in conjunction with the Lodi Rules For Sustainable Winegrowing Certification Standards, Second Edition binder, is used to document your farming practices. The self-assessment system is open during March.
Step 3: Audit
Third, schedule an audit. Audits are completed during June. Auditor visits entail friendly and low-pressure inspection of all documentation and vineyards themselves.
Step 4: PEAS
The final step in the certification process is submission of PEAS impact units per vineyard per year to the auditor. PEAS calculations are due in mid-August for Lodi growers and in early September for growers in other regions with later harvest dates.
