Lodi Rules For Sustainable Winegrowing Certification Standards, Second Edition

The Lodi Rules For Sustainable Winegrowing Certification Standards, Second Edition binder is your primary tool navigating the certification process. Getting your hands on this binder is the first step to becoming Lodi Rules certified. The binder is comprehensive and contains background on the program, instructions and resources, and most importantly it outlines all 101 standards. The binder is to be used in tandem with the Protected Harvest assessment website (see below). A print version of the binder can be requested by contacting Matthew Hoffman at matthew@lodiwine.com or (209) 367-4727. Protected Harvest assessment website

In addition to the Lodi Rules For Sustainable Winegrowing Certification Standards, Second Edition binder, Protected Harvest’s assessment website is an essential tool for Lodi Rules growers. The assessment site allows growers to submit your farming practices, which are reviewed by the auditor. All assessments must be completed using this on-line system, no paper assessments will be accepted. PEAS instructions and lists

The most recent (updated August 20, 2014) lists of PEAS impact units is available as a downloadable PDF documents. If you are using a pesticide that is not on the list, please contact Matthew Hoffman with the pesticide name at matthew@lodiwine.com or (209) 367-4727. The list is also available as a sortable and searchable Excel spreadsheet upon request. Three versions of the list are available.

Quick tip: One way to search the PDF documents for a given pesticide is with your computer’s built in search capabilities. At any time simply use the key pad combination CTRL + F to prompt the search window. Hold down the CTRL key, while still holding it down, press the F key. Doing this will prompt a search window to pop up, usually in the upper right hand corner of your screen. Click in the field to place your cursor, then type in the pesticide name you want to search for, then press enter. Your computer will then locate the first instance that word appears in the document and highlight it. Press the enter key to advance the search to the next instance.

Vineyard and winery signs

Image 6With more and more folks traveling the roads of Lodi Wine Country, we have an opportunity to communicate our commitment to sustainable agriculture. Signs are available for purchase to all growers participating in the Lodi Rules program and all wineries using the Lodi Rules seal on wine labels. The signs can be installed in any high-visibility locations. Two sign options are available, a horizontal orientation and a vertical orientation. The horizontal option (24″ x 32″) is designed to be read from a passing car, so it is well-suited for road-side vineyards. The vertical option (32″ x 24″) is designed for easy installation and its geometry is appropriate for tight spaces such as winery parking lots or seating areas. However, feel free to choose either sign for any application. Signs will be customizable with your vineyard or winery name. Place your orders with Matthew Hoffman at matthew@lodiwine.com or (209) 367-4727. When placing your order, please include the following information. Price per sign depends on order size and ranges from $75.00-$100.00.

  • Number of signs.
  • Sign orientation (horizontal or vertical).
  • Number of posts with mounting hardware ($22 each). Horizontal signs require 2 posts, vertical signs 1.
  • Business name as you wish it to be printed on sign. Sorry, no business logos.
