Topics include:
• Pierce’s Disease/GWSS Update: Ken Freeze of Brown Miller Communication will provide an update on PD/GWSS including history of the program, ongoing research, program funding, other included pests and diseases, and the referendum that is currently underway.
• Conservation Compliance: John Aguire of CAWG will explain the new USDA Conservation Compliance requirements for winegrape growers purchasing crop insurance. He will cover Form AD-1026 which must be filed with your local Farm Service Agency office by June 1, 2015 by those interested in purchasing crop insurance for the 2016 crop year. Those who also produce annually tilled commodities (wheat, corn, etc.) and want to purchase winegrape crop insurance will be subject to Highly Erodible Land Conservation and Wetland Conservation certification requirements.
• Cal OSHA Heat Illness: Bryan Little of FELS will provide an update on the new requirements of the Heat Illness Prevention Regulation that are expected to go into effect on May 1, 2015. Changes have been made to multiple areas of the regulation including access to shade, location of water, preventative cool-down rest breaks, high heat procedures, emergency response procedures, acclimatization, training, and heat illness prevention plans.
• Drought Issues: Jennifer Spaletta of Spaletta Law will provide an update on drought issues including State Water Board emergency water regulations, the implementation of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act, and local water issues.
• Lunch, Networking & A Legislative Update from CAWG: The seminar will conclude with a networking lunch and update on state legislation from Brad Goehring of Goehring Vineyards the CAWG Government Relations Committee Chair.
